Welcome to Big Cypress Farm

Where daylilies smile, chickens have personalities, and sourdough has its own birthday.

Tucked away in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana is a farm filled with flavor, fun, and just the right amount of flour dust. Big Cypress Farm isn’t just a place—it’s a story baked fresh every day.

Once upon a time, dreamers Ralph and Clara Barger started this little slice of heaven. They planted roots—both in soil and in spirit—raising soybeans, livestock, and a lively bunch of kids on land kissed by the sun and rich with promise.

For more than 55 years, the farm thrived on hard work, warm hearts, and good food. Then their daughter, Regina Barger Proctor, added her own twist. With a sparkle in her eye (and sourdough on her mind), she brought the farm into a new era—one that blends tradition with a sprinkle of magic.

Today, Big Cypress Farm is home to the most soulful sourdough you’ll ever meet.

Our sourdough starter? It’s a living legend—born in 1976 and still going strong.
Our bread? Warm, golden, and made with love (and maybe a little sass).
Our cookies? Soft, tangy, and sweet enough to make your grandma raise an eyebrow.

Each loaf and every cookie comes from the heart of the farm—crafted with care, kissed by time, and rooted in family. It’s more than baked goods. It’s a slice of our story.

While you're nibbling, imagine this:

  • Chickens clucking their own barnyard soap opera

  • Hummingbirds zipping around like they run the place

  • A glittering pond under the big oak tree

  • And the towering cypress tree, the farm’s namesake, standing tall like a gentle giant

Whether you're shopping for a sourdough loaf to pair with dinner, cookies to gift (or hoard for yourself—we don’t judge), or just a moment of homespun joy, you're part of our family now.

Order online. Taste the tradition. Spread the joy.

From our farm to your kitchen—thanks for letting us bake a little magic into your day.
Welcome to Big Cypress Farm—where every bite tells a story.
